The project
“Oukan is a place of tranquility and mindfulness in the heart of Berlin-Mitte. Here, vegan fine dining featuring ingredients from the restaurant’s own fermentation lab meets Japanese-inspired interior design.
”
Concept
These values should also be reflected in the website. For this reason, a dark, understated design was developed, inspired by the restaurant’s interior design. Dark hues, understated typography, and subtle design elements define the visual style. The images offer atmospheric glimpses into the ambiance without giving too much away — they spark curiosity rather than spoiling the experience. Timelessly modern cuisine and a website that does it justice.
Understanding the project
The first step in the implementation process was a detailed assessment. The goal was to develop a deep understanding of the restaurant, its values, its philosophy, and the interior design behind it. Through personal conversations and a close examination of the restaurant’s existing image, it became clear what makes the restaurant special and how this uniqueness should also be conveyed digitally.
Design phase
The design phase began on this basis. Using Figma, an initial visual concept was developed that closely reflected the restaurant’s ambiance and identity. This design was gradually refined through close collaboration until every detail was just right and the digital design accurately captured the restaurant’s atmosphere.
Web development
This was followed by the technical implementation using WordPress. The design was brought to life with pixel-perfect accuracy (with the utmost care and attention to detail). At the same time, the implementation provided the opportunity to make further adjustments and optimizations to create a consistently cohesive and functional user experience.
